Mental Illness/Traits

When I played an Asylum I wanted my sims to have traits that reflected a mental illness. Certain traits in themselves are not always indicative of a mental illness, but, when the traits become obsessive, which is usually the case with Sims, then they can be classed as a mental illness.  Below, I have put together a list of Traits and their corresponding mental illness. A lot of my sims deal with mental illnesses and disorders. Mainly ADHD/ADD, bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, OCD, antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, and anxiety. However, to convey their illnesses I find it better to mix certain traits together so it’s more impactful in their day-to-day lives.

    For example:

    -ADHD/ADD: absent-minded, daredevil, exciteable
-Depression: Grumpy, loner, brooding, heavy sleeper/light sleeper, hates the outdoors, couch potato
-Anxiety: Neurotic, brooding, socially awkward, shy, coward
    -OCD: Neurotic, neat/slob, perfectionist
-Bipolar 1(I use cheats to modify traits for this one)- party animal, light-sleeper, over emotional, excitable, hot headed, absent-minded, ambitious, unstable, daredevil, flirty, hopeless romantic, virtuoso, artistic, diva, good sense of humor, inappropriate, insane, grumpy, brooding, heavy sleeper, loner, couch potato
-Bipolar 2: light sleeper, over emotional, excitable, hot headed, ambitious, flirty, artistic, good sense of humor, grumpy, brooding, heavy sleeper, loner, couch potato
-Schizophrenia: (positive) insane, unstable, coward (negative) brooding, loner, socially awkward, couch potato, hates the outdoors, no sense of humor, absent-minded
Antisocial Personality Disorder: evil, charismatic, hot headed, schmoozer, ambitious
Borderline Personality Disorder: over emotional, brooding, hot headed, neurotic, hopeless romantic, ambitious, commitment issues, social butterfly

Thank you for your very interesting comment. I like your ideas and it makes sense. I will use this in my game. My list was just a base for the asylum challenge, and I don’t play with supernatural so didn’t incorporate those traits in the list. Thanks again for your comment and for visiting my site 🙂

make my sims have it i thought about making a video about OCD but i don’t like doing that but i could do it in sims and it would be addressing the issues

I found it easy to put this list together, seeing as I suffer from a few of those myself LOL. Then with the list and comments from Gyrm, it made it much better. I played a sim who was a Hypochondriac and that was funny to play. I put a list together for the symptoms, causes and reactions LOL.
